Mar. 4th, 2003 11:09 pmya know, when I do something nice, I don't do it as an invitation to walk all over me. I do it because I care for the other person and I expect the same kindness in return, I resent it when I am just used instead.
But it would seem the old "Do unto others" adage doesn't mean much these days...

Remember, we're dealing with humans here.
Personally, if I do something nice for someone, I don't expect thanks. I do it cos I want to.
If they don't appreciate it, I get even more pleasure out of it, cos I feel this makes me BETTER than that person, in an odd way. Although, it does mean I won't do it for them again.
It's a weird way to think of it, but it works for me.
