ya know, when I do something nice, I don't do it as an invitation to walk all over me. I do it because I care for the other person and I expect the same kindness in return, I resent it when I am just used instead.

But it would seem the old "Do unto others" adage doesn't mean much these days...

It NEVER meant much. Like...EVER.
It was a romantic ideal further romanticised by children's moral learning texts and history people.
Remember, we're dealing with humans here.
Personally, if I do something nice for someone, I don't expect thanks. I do it cos I want to.
If they don't appreciate it, I get even more pleasure out of it, cos I feel this makes me BETTER than that person, in an odd way. Although, it does mean I won't do it for them again.
It's a weird way to think of it, but it works for me.

Very very true. Being nice to someone is not saying that you are a dormat to be stepped upon!

So depressingly true.
i used to try and help people as much as possible, in the hope that they would help me when needed, or be nice back, or just say thanx.
it never happened. :(
but i have the solution. kill 'em all. (im a psychopath. im SUPPOSED to solve all my problems with murder)
