What does someone have to do??

Got the letter from the zoo today.

Apparently the positions have been appointed. If so, I didn't even get an interview. This is a job I am totally confident I can do and it's my dream job. I've never felt that way about a job before. And I don't even get an INTERVIEW???

According to the letter I have been put on the files as a potential candidate for "short term or casual positions that may become available". Not much use when I'm already working a secure job because I kinda need an income.

I don't know what else I can do. Maybe I'm destined to work boring but easy office jobs for the rest of my life.

Def ask for feedback. I did this for a job I felt I should have gotten to interview for recently and it turned out that one of the "desirable" items were had by a large number of people (certain language skills) so they decided to be stricter on that. They now keep me on their HR records and have asked I get in contact with them if I ever am able to volunteer.
