So, I'd been working for the Echo for three days. They threw me into a sales job, not what I applied for but they thought I'd be good at it anyway. It actually looked quite interesting and I was beginning to get excited about it. After two days following people around or mostly just sitting in the office twiddling my thumbs I was sent out today to give out some cards in Malaga and let them know about the Echo. Squee, finally I was out there.

Not long after I got back I was taken aside and told they don't think I'll make it and they were "letting me go" now instead of "prolonging it".

What I was meant to do in 3 days with no experience or instruction I have no freakin' idea. As always you're never told what the real reasons are, because that's just the way it's done. I'm clueless. And unemployed again.

Go figure.

grrrr i HATE when employers do that!

i think they owe you some kind of explanation as to why you were let go!

i once got fired from a job under similar circumstances, except i'd been there about 2.5 months... all they could tell me was that i "wasn't fitting in"... i mean, wtf?

They even told me stories about the woman I replaced (who was there for a while but left suddenly due to family issues). Apparently she would go to clients and bitch about her day and her work and if she didn't know something on the phone she'd sigh and carry on about how she didn't know rather than putting them on hold and finding the answer.

I've also seen workers who turn up late, chuck sickies, slack off.

They never get the sack. I would NEVER do shit like that, and I can't seem to hold down any job. Maybe I should just turn into an asshole, that seems to be what's required.

Bastards!

Yeah, that sucks a whole lot.

And after three days, wtf were they expecting? Sales is almost always crappy, though

It wasn't a pushy sales job. More a "consultant" than "salesperson". Which is why I had no doubt I could do it.

P.S. Are you going to karaoke tomorrow? And where the hell were you last week?

At least the three days were paid, and there was quite a nice free dinner for the companies birthday that we got to go to...

Maybe they really just needed a couple of extra people to go to the dinner...
