not to rile your feathers but i got my mom an electric jar opener, the step above electric can opener! she's getting older and just doesn't have the strength anymore, tho she's never used it, she just gets colin to open her jars, lol!
i'm with you on the general primise tho, pots and pans and basic gizmos are my way too but one day i'm sure i'll be too weak to do this stuff too and simply adore the ease-accessories.
