By mid 2006 smoking will BANNED in all indoor venues in Australia.

*dances around* I WILL be throwing a party when that happens.

Why so long to wait I have no idea but better late than never I guess. I just hope I don't get cancer in that year and a half.

Yeah it kinda shits me that so many mates of my mine light up at venues where smoking is allowed. But I guess while it's legal and I'm getting exposure from people I don't know I can't really say anything.

I do know plenty of polite smokers however. It always seems to be the assholes who troll my anti-smoking community (well I guess, a polite smoker WOULDN'T troll such a community would they?)

Don't take this the wrong way... but that was my point with the Fly By Nightclub. I'd support a non-smoking venue because I think it's a good thing for everybody.

In the meantime, if you choose to go to a smoking venue and you're a non-smoker... well... I don't think you can pout and cry about catching cancer if you're gonna hang out in a smoky pub once a week. If you're that worried about getting cancer in the next 1.5 years, then you'd stay away from venues of high exposure like that. Sorry, harsh, but true. Nobody's twisting your arm to go to closed-in smoking spaces like that.

I adore everything about karaoke at KK's except the smoke.

So I will continue to go, but I do 99% of my bitching in the appropriate communities. ;)

See, to me that either makes no sense if you're that worried about it, or makes you seem melodramatic about your "cancer risk" posts.

I just feel that I (or anybody) shouldn't HAVE to risk their health in such a way by going somewhere they enjoy - why should non-smokers miss out on what they love because there are people who smoke?

Ah well, counting down to mid-2006.

That's absolutely fine and valid. But don't post that you're worried about catching cancer, then regularly trot off to a smoking venue voluntarily anyway. Show some spine! Stop going and they'll stop the smoking.
