Gemfyre's Jewellery!
May. 18th, 2004 06:16 pmYokay - Most of this stuff is for sale. If you are interested e-mail me, message me, reply, whatever. For those overseas we'll have to work out payment options - I don't have Paypal or anything due to lack of credit card and fear of exchage rate - I think I'd be charged more in fees that I'd make. And conversion costs for USD at least is $7, not sure about other currencies. So it's a tad awkward but I'm sure we can organise something. Prices are tentative (Oz dollars of course) - make an offer.

Date: 2004-05-18 05:07 pm (UTC)I wonder if you'll just drop her LJ first, or realise that she does use LJ cut, but not when she wants everyone to look at the pictures.
and no i haven't gone back to look at when she last used lj-cut, or how often she does and doesnt. i just see it as a long post, and plenty of people do that with just text, which is even more anoying, especially when it isnt formatted at all. you cant even pretend to skim read that.
and cos i find multiple threads stupid, i'll deal with your other comment here too.
I don't see it as being inconsiderate, because it's her journal, and the friends add it at their own choice. totally different to smokers forcing their smoke into your airspace. And I'd also not have an issue with anything you post in your journal either. I may not like some of the pics, but i don't care cos it's your journal and i choose to read it.
and warwick, i have issues when people spread it past my screen width also (cant remember the amount! stupid brain)

Date: 2004-05-18 05:25 pm (UTC)I can't be bothered going and checking the number of lj cuts she uses/doesn't use either, but I do know that of the 30 or so people on my friends list (perhaps 20 of which actually post regularly), BJ is the only one I know who does this. I've never felt it necessary to bring up the topic with anyone else (not that I can recall anyway). Although if Wayne was on my friends list I'd probably bring it up with him - I dislike large, unformatted, often uninteresting blocks of text too :P
Regarding the smokers comparison... I didn't mean they're the same on every level, just that they're both examples of people not thinking of others. Please note I'm not siding with inconsiderate smokers - on the contrary, I dislike all examples of people being inconsiderate :P

Date: 2004-05-18 05:34 pm (UTC)I like how you totally ignored my pointing out the difference between passive consideration and active consideration situations.
yes its a consideration issue, but it's one that she really shouldn't have to make. LJ should always be treated as though your reading someone elses regular journal. while the medium is different, and it isn't really designed to be secret, it is still the authors choice on what they put in it, and the readers choice as to what the read.

Date: 2004-05-18 06:10 pm (UTC)Looking back on your last comment, I can't see anything in there relating to that. Quote me the text and I'll address it...
I think we'll have to agree to disagree on the issue. I can't see either of us being convinced by the other :P

Date: 2004-05-19 09:24 am (UTC)So I didn't specify it exactly as passive and active consideration, but I at least opened the door for you to think about how they are actually different issues totally, and only vaguelly connected at best.

Date: 2004-05-19 12:25 pm (UTC)I think I covered it quite adequetely with that. I specified that I wasn't comparing smoking to not using lj-cut, just the lack of consideration involved in both. I'm not gonna go write an essay on the exact boundaries of the comparison, so if that's what you wanted I'm afraid you're going to be disappointed.
