Hasbro G3 pony fuck ups
Nov. 9th, 2003 03:25 pmThere are many of them I have heard about.
1. Ridiculous packaging - ponies are hard to open, they often are dented due to the packaging pressing against them, and the hair is often frizzy due to being taped to the package and having that weird bit of plastic in it which hardly ever comes off as intended. Usually you tear one half of the plastic off and the the threads remain in the hair, requiring you to pick out the hair slowly, resulting a load of frizz.
2. Many of the MIP new ponies are significantly flawed before even coming out of the packaging. They are dirty, have frizzy hair and have dents and smeared symbols and eyes.
3. 99% of the ponies are exclusive to one store or another.
4. Hasbro says "This pony is an [insert country here] exclusive! A few months later the pony or playset is available in other countries or is released elsewhere in a playset.
5. The re-release of ponies in playsets or accessories, which were previously available with less ponies.
6. Mail order points are available in many countries, mail orders are only available to the U.S. Oh yes, and later they decided to let Canada in on the action. When the G1 ponies went out mail orders were available in many countries (including Australia). One wonders why they have gone backwards in this respect.
7. The mail order items are claimed on the website to be "Only available by mail order". The video came out in stores not long after the mail order offer.
8. The mail order bracelet is terrible quality.
9. The playmat is some papery substance, not vinyl like it should be if it is to be actually PLAYED with.
10. Apparently Hasbro required a quota of mail orders to start shipping. So those that sent out points and money right away get their mail orders at the same time as those who sent them last week. A little unfair methinks.
11. Apparently some people have recieved multiple Dazzle Surprises that they did not order, these ponies were meant to be sent elsewhere. Hasbro's advice? Mail them to the correct owners AT YOUR EXPENSE.
All in all it's disgusting, disorganised, MISLEADING behaviour from possibly the biggest toy company in the world.

Date: 2003-11-09 01:49 am (UTC)How are we supposed to know the correct owner's address anyway, unless it's on the box? In that case, isn't it just as easy to hand it back to the postman explaining it was delivered to the wrong addy?
*totally mystified*
I had better get my Dazzles on Monday or there will be hell to pay.

Date: 2003-11-09 03:38 am (UTC)Also the castle. It is horribly overpriced. It is $85 where I am and in nearly all countries more expensive if you arent US/Canadian. It is much more cheaper for people to have it shipped from the USA than to go to the local toy store and pay for it there. Anyway, the castle itself is a wonderful, except for a few flaws. Mainly the turrets are easy to knock off and the balloon/other thing falls off the top easily too. I heard that they fixed it in the 2nd release though, but never seeing the 2nd release I dunno.
The building itself have flaws. Like take the Cotton Candy Cafe. If you leave the pony on the balcony the paint comes off!! I mean it would make most sense that most kids would leave the pony there (since in the packaging she is displayed above the balcony). You dont expect the paint to come off!
On a good note, I am pleased that the batteries are replaceable. Unlike G2s who werent. Sure it requires a screwdriver, but I would rather go around playing with a CD than having the frustration of never hearing Moondancer's boom box never play again (or any other battery function you would like to name).

Date: 2003-11-09 04:09 am (UTC)Of course, I sent in my cheque & points in September and they haven't even *cashed* it yet, much less sent out DS. if they've sent her to someone else, I will be *unimpressed.*
But we all know hasbro does things half-assedly. That's why they're Hasbro. Grrr.

Date: 2003-11-09 04:12 am (UTC)Oh, and checking my account history, I wrote the cheque for shipping DS on September 17 and they *just* cashed it on the 4th of November. I should have done like sunny and sent it in a week before I wanted the pony, lol.

Date: 2003-11-09 05:52 am (UTC)My Sweetberry's tail was put in a little below where the actual hole for her tail was, so there's a tear in the plastic there.
So people are getting extra Dazzle Surprises? I ordered 2 but they haven't gotten here yet...I hope they'll get here and weren't sent elsewhere.
Yikes.
Date: 2003-11-09 07:45 am (UTC)I hate those hair ties that don't come out, I have to handpick my ponies out of ten others and still am lucky if I come up with a perfect one (lots of dirt on the white ponies! Lots of poorly-painted eyes!), the bracelet is laughable and the video is definately not a true mail-order which ticks me off, I haven't received my Dazzles yet but they better not give my extra to somebody else!!
Oh, and I just looked at my Cafe balcony (where I do indeed keep Cotton Candy), and the paint IS coming off!!! WTF??

Date: 2003-11-09 09:17 am (UTC)we asked them for help on the mlp fair. So they are helping us...by taking all our hard work (from trading to game ideas to prize ideas) and starting the "The First My Little Pony Convention" which was our goal. So now we have to shoot a little lower :/
I think this time around hasbro is doing alot worse. They realy don't know what the customer wants!
