I learned today that it's legal to keep sugar gliders as pets in the U.S. I am slightly shocked.

You can have wallabees as pets here too. It is illegal to have any exotic mammal in california and they are very strict in Massachussetts. some animals are not meant to be pets IMO but people love owning exotics. In IL. It is illegal to own anything deemed wildlife. Unfotanatly one shop was not quite aware that their short tail possums were considered wildlife and I had gotten one. I could not find a vet to take her unless through a zoo vet and it would have costed alot. My BF accidently killed it though. Nasty little thing.

Sugargliders are recommended to be in a big cage with a few others and to play with each of them at least 2 hours a day.

African pygmi hedgehogs were a fad here and unfortanatly alot of them were destroyed. Now you can only get them through a breeder. I have my second one. They are sold for children and if I were a child I would not want her.

It is very sad how animals are exploited.
