That's what the stuff on my hands is. I knew it was eczema but it's helpful to have a more precise diagnosis.

Currently on a regimen of oatmeal soaks and use of barrier cream to try and get rid of damn stuff, or at least stop it itching, if it doesn't itch I won't scratch and if I don't scratch it might heal.

I suffer from the same thing, it is the worst. I get it all over my fingers and it gets so bad that it looks like leprousy... SO itchy! I found fresh aloe vera helps calm it down. Barrier cream makes mine worse, certain perfumes and things set mine off you might wanna check and see if something is upsetting it.

I think for me it's a combination of stress and my cat. :) The flare ups come and go, seemingly at random.

The barrier cream is working a treat for me. I first used when I was working at a butcher so I had my hands in cold marinade or raw meat all day - NOT GOOD. I started using the barrier cream and my hands cleared up despite me paddling in meat and marinade! I hadn't used it since I stopped working there, but now I've started again (just last night) and it's already feeling smoother and less itchy.

that's funny that yours started from the meat, mine started from working with beer all the time : / stress makes mine worse as well, just curious, do you have a nickle allergy as well? Mine is crazy sensative...

Oh mine started about 15 years ago. Working at the butcher a couple of years ago just majorly aggravated it while I was working there.

Helping Hands from Lush is brilliant for eczema FYI. :)

I don't know what kind of eczema I have on my hands, but luckily mine does not seem to crop up too much. As far as we (my docs & I) can tell, the trigger was either overdyed fabric, or carpet glue. Nowadays, it really only flares up during cold weather, probably because Florida gets very dry when it cold, typically.

oh you poor thing :(. i had bad eczema for a couple of years working in a deli and i can even pick out the healing cuts on my hands in my wedding photos :/. i just used the barrier cream with those white cotton gloves in bed as much as i could be bothered and i used cortizone cream i think it was from the doctors as well. to be honest it never really worked 100% till i left all the chemicals and worked in an office environment so i can't give much advice but i hope you feel better soon and i sympathise with you.

I get the same eczema on occasion. Stress is a HUGE trigger for me! I also second watching out for nickel. I'd break out when I worked retail because of all the contact with the hangars :P

If you keep your hands cool, they'll itch less. So, if you're having a particularly nasty evening, go run them under cold water. Barrier cream didn't work for me nor the steroid cream! I feel for you  dyshydrotic eczema is the WORST!
