Well I don't know if the news was confirmed at the time. And the song was playing just before the news, which is at half hour intervals in the morning.
I only read about it on facebook half an hour after I got up. Which was around 6:30am.
Not so surprising. I found out about 9:30 Eastern Time US, since the local top 40 station had a flood of requests for Michael Jackson songs. His time of death was 2:26 Pacific time, I'll admit I'm not good at tracking time zones... but that would have been late night for you, wouldn't it?
