So, I finished "Krakatoa: The Day The World Exploded" yesterday. Interesting read, it covered way more than the actual eruption, being a crash course in Indonesian history, biogeography, geology and religion as well.
So I bought a new book. It was a case of wanting a new book to read NOW and not having enough to time to go the library.
The book I bought is simply called "Bad Science" and it's by Ben Goldacre. It pretty much covers the medical and health myths in our society and the bad (more non) science behind them perpetuated by the media and salesmen rather than actual scientists.
As I was reading the intro I was thinking to myself, "Oh, I bet he has a ball with things like detoxes and ear candles". I wasn't disappointed, a few pages later in the first chapter he attacked BOTH.
I think I'm going to enjoy reading this book. I hope it opens my eyes a bit.
ETA : Ah, it seems the man has a blog.
