Does anyone know if Venus is partially eclipsed tonight? I just had a (VERY shaky) look through my spotting scope and Venus looked more gibbous than round.

Alas, Jupiter just looks like a vaguely orangish circle. When I am rich I shall invest in a telescope.

It's not that it's eclipsed, it's that it is inside the earth's orbit, so from here we see the phases it does.

*nods* the phases of Venus were discovered by Galileo iirc. He recored the observation in code.
