So, I'll find out by Sunday night whether I do or don't have a job at Caversham.
Of course, there is a catch. The pay is almost 10k per year less than what I'm earning now. Is it worth it?
Pros
- job in my field.
- probably less stress because it's what I want to do.
- slightly shorter hours.
- exercise at work.
- I was earning much less while we were in Beechboro and was still pretty happy/comfortable.
Cons
- rolling roster - every 3rd weekend or so off (but still 5 days a week). This isn't that much of an issue. Having to work on Christmas and Easter and stuff is.
- we're trying to save for a house. A paycut doesn't help with that. There is potential for payrises in the future, but as the girl that interviewed me said herself, "nothing to get excited about".
Rentals slightly further east (we're looking about halfway between Matt's work and Caversham) are cheaper/more bang for your back. Rentals in the area we are now are sought after, poky and high-end prices.
Gosh the prospect of not doing the job I'm currently doing anymore excites me. But the paycut stings a bit.
