So, too many people still believe we should just sit on our arses and not do anything about global warming until the "hard scientific evidence" rolls in, whatever that means.

But really, there is irrefutable evidence already, there was 20 years or more ago.

It's known that carbon in the atmosphere contributes to a "greenhouse effect" and subsequent warming and/or climate change. We know that from studying previous ice ages on Earth and Venus's climate.

It's known that burning fossil fuels directly dumps carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. And we've burning these fuels for a few hundred years now, not to mention the wood and coal that has been being burned for many years before that.

So, where is this doubt that our incessant burning of fossil fuels is NOT contributing to global climate change?

Hm, is this directed at a particular conversation? I honestly don't know anyone who is still in denial about burning fossil fuels = greenhouse effect and lil Johnnie has been booted out of Parliament which means that most of the people who voted thought that the greenhouse effect was something that required urgent and pressing action....

It actually stemmed from my musing in the shower about how people are using log fires at the moment instead of gas heaters, and how burning wood is one of the sources of atmospheric CO2 that has been around the longest.

Luckily these days the majority do believe that Greenhouse is a concern. But it still shocks and alarms me that there are still plenty of people sticking their heads in the sand and insisting that will resume their current wasteful lifestyle until some sort of "evidence" pops up.

Ugh, I know. It aggravates me that there are still people who refuse to believe that our western way of life has a negative inpact on the planet. It's really obvious at this point.

You'd think the movie "Soylent Green" would scare people out of their torpor but NOooooOOOoo.

When I find myself savouring a piece of steak because the price of food is going through the roof and it'll be months upon months before I taste it again, and people of a certain socio-economic strata lamenting that they can't get fresh fruit and vegetables, I get scared. Very scared.
