One of my friends in Sydney, who is popular around IRC land, and goes by the Nick Octane, is absolutely fanatic about Led Zeppelin. He used to upload me all of his tracks and before long I'd have 100s of megabytes of Led Zeppelin stuff. Before he enthusiastically introduced me to them, I barely knew anything about them. He believes they were the greatest musicians of their time because of their intricate instrumentals, range of music from heavy metal to ballads and stage performances.
He sent me Kashmir and Stairway to Heaven which were probably my two favourites in the list of tracks he sent me.
heh heh. I have both box sets (which is everything officially released while the band were in existence). Some shit over east stole some of the disks (along with a heap of other stuff) but I made copies from MP3 downloads to replace them. I have some unreleased stuff. I have BBC sessions, I have Encomium, the tribute album. I have an interview disk, I have Remasters (I started with this, it's pretty much a "greatest hits" kinda thing). I have The Song Remains The Same on video *swoon*, I have a huge painting of them on my bedroom wall (really nice painting, the painter did a whole set of rock stars, all in the same "ghosts in the night sky" kinda style). I have Zep shirts, I have 2 Zep posters...
I so wish I was 17 or so in 1974, when they were at their prime, it would have been the coolest thing to see them live.
