I'm currently unable to walk without crutches due to a knee injury which is taking way longer than expected to heal (2 months so far).

Seeing as Centerlink is only paying me enough per fortnight to maybe pay for one physio appointment, I want a job so I can actually afford all my medical expenses.

A work from home/part time job would be ideal. And I'd probably only want it for a few months until I'm back on my feet.

I was thinking I'd probably be interested in proofreading/editing jobs - then I could pick over people's spelling and grammar and get paid for it.

Anyone know of any jobs like this? Or places where I could look for them?

Thanks. :)

There's a Perth Technical Writers list which frequently posts little jobs like this, plus big ones. I've used it to recruit a proof reader for myself.

What sort of tech writing experience do you have?

Experience - just a good grasp of spelling of grammar. My degree is in Conservation Biology.

People these days seem to have such an abysmal ability to construct a decent sentence and spell all the words correctly, I could charge a small fee to correct their mistakes.

Without experience and references you'll need to be prepared to proof a sample page for free, but that's not unusual. Good luck!

Hmm. Not in the home, sadly, but call centre? Getting there is the hard part, of course, but once you're there, you can park your bum in a seat and stay there til knock-off time.

The downshot is having to deal with customers who are ruder (on average) than face to face ones (much harder to see you as a human when you are just a voice on a phone)

I would only work in a call centre if I was REALLY REALLY desperate.

Once I can get two and from a workplace without having to rely on someone else I'll be looking at data entry or admin jobs.
