Because I've never come across one. I wish you could just pick a temperature, and the water would get to that temperature within 10 seconds and stay there. Rather than take 2 minutes to warm up and then fluctuate between scorching hot and freezing cold. *sigh*

In the knee news. I saw a private surgeon today. It cost me $130 for a 10 minute consult (I only get half back on Medicare). I have an MRI scheduled for Saturday afternoon. *Yay!* And I see him again next Tuesday (another $130-$180, thank God I DO have those holiday/house savings).

And now, a poll.

I really like the Lush solid shampoos/conditioner. Most of their solids are SLS-free now, too.

If your hot water heater is heating up fine, but it gets cold really quickly your bottom element is probably out. If you replace it then it should be back to normal :)

I wash my hair about once every 10 days or so (see icon), but when I do I use commercial dandruff shampoo.

The tmi is free.

Make sure your pilot light is lit on the water heater. I had one go out for a while, and would just randomly get hot water. It might have been coming from other parts of the apartment building though.

I don't know what the answer is. I don't read ingredients, I buy what has been proved to make my hair soft and manageable, and then pick the one that smells the nicest of that brand.

Right now it's Herbal Essences. It has also been White Rain and VO5.

Tell me more about SLS? (For the record, I've tried the Lush bar shampoos and conditioners, but I don't like them.)

SLS is Sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate (both are slightly different chemically, apparently the lauryl sulfate version is the least desirable).

It makes things froth nicely so is a common ingredient in most commercial cleaning products - even though it contributes nothing to the cleaning power, just produces aesthetically pleasing bubbles.

It's a skin irritant. Some even claim it's carcinogenic (not proven but heck, isn't EVERYTHING carcinogenic these days?)

It's just one of those chemicals that's cheap to add, but unnecessary and potentially harmful.

Never heard of White Rain, but the other two are commercial brands that would contain SLS.
