Idol Top 12
Sep. 9th, 2007 09:35 pmAnd yaknow, I'll miss the first verdict because I'll be camping in the middle of nowhere (don't worry, the VCR is set to record).
Guitar pick shaped stage. Funky.
Here we go here we go here we go.
1990! It still blows my mind that kids born in that year are now almost legal. I feel older everyday.
Benji Mac (sorry, I will not call him Ben Mackenzie)
Sunday Morning - Maroon 5
Hrm, I like Maroon 5 but I don't know this song. Okay, I recognise it now. :) Benji has been really surprising. I like his song choices, his singing isn't too bad and he looks great now he's had someone to do him up. I hope he gets up in the competition or else we'll see him advertising Clearasil.
I think Dicko's contract this year states "Disagree with everything Mark says."
Mark Da Costa
Vertigo - U2
Ah Portugese. I was assuming Italian. Oh, it's nice to hear his singing voice for a change. Okay, he can stay another week, he didn't screw up U2 completely - he shoulda worn fly sunglasses.
Lana Krost
Shiver - Natalie Imbruglia
It seems everyone that lives in Subi/Claremont/that area has a house like that. And now I also know why she has an American accent - her dad does. I love her voice, so sweet. She's like the diametric opposite of Tarasai vocally. She's also gorgeous. And she's from Perth! W00! Why should young people have more nerves Kyle? If I was up there I would be SHITTING myself! I can only manage karaoke because I stare at my friends of the monitor, no way I could go in front of a crowd with nothing and perform.
Daniel Misfud (or is it Mifsud? I can never remember)
Cry Me A River - Justin Timberlake
Justin Timberlake grabbed a Zeppelin riff and used it in one of his songs! That should be illegal! Despite that blasphemy, I liked this performance, Daniel does have a nice high register that he's never showed before. The backing did drown him out at times, but, Zeppelin music will do that. ;)
Carl Riseley
Waltzing Matilda - Banjo Paterson
Brave song choice! That could possibly be suicide. That was thoroughly entertaining, until that weird-ass bit at the end. I just find it funny to hear that song, because I just bought myself a swag yesterday (for aforementioned camping trip).
Holly Weinert
Standing On The Edge Of Control - Gossip
I like this chick. Well, she can reinvent herself that's for sure. That was like a hurricane. I'm exhausted. I have never heard of that song before. I hope she doesn't suffer the same fate as Regan did last year (and yes, I wrote that comment before Mark mentioned it).
Matt Corby
The Scientist - Coldplay
His hair is starting to bug me. That was quite plain. But then again, so are Coldplay songs. That doesn't mean I don't like them. I think Mark has a falsetto fetish.
Natalie Gauci
Baby I Got You On My Mind - Powderfinger
She has such a cruisy vibe. I really like her.
Jacob Butler
When We Were Young - The Killers
He has uneven fringe disease too. And now he's doing freaky Jack Byrne style dancing. That performance wasn't bad, but he's the first one to give me that, "I don't care if he doesn't go through." feeling.
God I love beer ads (the Tooheys ad was on). Pity they'll never actually sell me any beer because I hate the taste.
Tarisai Vuche
If I Was Your Woman - Alicia Keyes
She reminds me of that girl in Sister Act 2. All I can keep saying is that she really IS a diva, not a wannabe like half the belter women in past series. The start was lovely.
Marty Simpson
I Can't Stand Losing You - The Police
When I first glanced at that footage I thought, "Is he wearing a lampshade on his head? Oh, it's a beanie." Weird song choice for him. The verses sound great, the chorus not so much. It took a bit for Marty's sound to grow on me, but now I like it.
Brianna Carpenter
God Only Knows - The Beach Boys
She has this real twitter to her voice. I like her, but she's a bit samey. I hope she can break out of that.
And God, now I have to wash the dishes, shower and hope to God I have everything together for Woylie trapping/bush camping this week.
