It's really pissing me off at the moment. This error pops up and pretty soon my net connection dies (I'm unfortunately on dialup at the moment). However the modem doesn't neccessarily disconnect. If I click the connection icon to reconnect it flashes open then closes again so I can't use it. I have to reboot to reconnect.

It seems to be doing it more and more often, for no discernable reason.

Dunno if this helps, but...

baaba: are you by any chance lacking a firewall?
baaba: ..anyway it seems your system is somehow fucked, be it a virus or a crashing crap program/malware/spyware you've installed
baaba: if you can't get rid of the problem by getting a firewall and doing a full virus scan, try removing any and all software that you don't 100% trust
baaba: "free security diagnostic" doesn't seem very trustworthy to me, for starters :P
baaba: if none of that helps you might either let someone who's a bit more knowledgeable look at the box or just reinstall windows and take better care of security

hrm, not enough information to compute. try googling it? Or try ctrl-alt-del when it happens before you hit send error report and show us what lists in task manager so we can look for odd stuff on google?

It doesn't give an error code, so it's hard to tell. The fact that it's a generic host process means it can be one of several things that's messing Windows up.

Next time it happens, see if you can click that link for the data in the rreport and get a screenshot of it. Maybe that'll give some error codes that you can look up.

Also, update your AVG and run a full system scan. If you have any other anti-virus software on the machine, make sure to completely uninstall them, multiple antivirus programs will cause conflicts and headaches for you.

Sorry I'm not more helpful, I'm learing hardware right now, software is next semester ;p

Are you using a laptop?

I am pretty sure this is similar to the error I was having on my laptop. It was disconnecting my wireless connection, and every time it came up I had to restart my laptop, and eventually it came up with worse errors and wouldn't start at all.
I phoned help desk (it's and Ed Dep lap) and they got my to reformat it (glad I backed up everything before then) and it still didn't fix it. I thought I was going to have to send it in (well they told me to)...
Eventually I figured that a part of the CD rom had moved away from the main part of the computer (hard to explain) and since I pushed it in I haven't had any errors.....

Nope, this is my PC. I turned on the firewall like another reply suggested (I had it off because it wreaked havoc with the network I was on in Perth). So far so good.
