I think I found a place
Sep. 15th, 2006 08:15 pmThe ball seems to be rolling, scary stuff.

This isn't the place, but the place I'm looking at is a mirror image of it, same price and everything.
Pros
- Comes with fridge!
- Allows cats
- 3 bedroom
- Has all power points, phone points, aerial points etc.
- 2 streets away from work.
- Only $135 p/w.
Cons
- I haven't seen it clean, the agent wasn't going to show me because it was a mess, but I think he's glad he did because I was very interested. Most of the grot looks like it will come off. As long as it does the place should be great. The agents are going to clean it up and replace the curtains/blinds and do a bit of other maintenance, like remove the lovely garden in the gutter!
- Neighbours are teenagers. Apparently they have been noisy in the past but the agents are 'cracking down' on them. Hopefully they behave and are nice to the cats, or I may have to kill them. *g*
- No air con.
- Hardly any bench space in the kitchen, but I can use the dining table for prep space.
I'm gonna need to borrow money from somewhere so I can afford to move in, but once I start work I'll be able to pay that off pretty quick I think.
I've never lived on my own before. I'll have to take care of my own bills and stuff, and sleep alone. Scary... but kinda exciting.

Date: 2006-09-15 12:39 pm (UTC)Hardly any bench space sucks--that's one of my biggest complaints about this place. I hate the kitchen. I want double the bench space and a twin sink, dammit! And a dishwasher.
No aircon sucks. Me and Luke have a reverse cycle unit we might sell ya at some point if you like--I'd have to talk to hom about it first of course, but we're not using it. And it's only a couple of years old. Or you know, the quokka is good. ;)

That's what parents are for! ;)

I'll also get the bond back on this place and I think I'll be able to get a little from Centerlink and/or Jobs Australia seeing as I'm a) starting work and b) moving to do so.

Date: 2006-09-15 02:59 pm (UTC)See, I live in a place where there's a lot of humidity so the heat here feels like it's 50 degrees hotter than it usually is. x_X That's the only reason I couldn't imagine living without A/C.
Must say I don't know how on earth the climate is in Australia, though.

Date: 2006-09-15 08:44 pm (UTC)When I was in Broome however, I was in the tropics so the humidity was way up. I still didn't mind it too much, but I did spend time holed up in my room with the aircon going.
