How many times has someone on your friends list posted about something and you were really confused, but you didn't want to ask because you knew you SHOULD know? How many times have you felt 'guilty' asking a close LJ friend a question that should be 'obvious'? Well, here's your chance. If you've missed a few things, missed an entry and are confused, ask me anything. Even something EXTREMELY basic, like where I live! I'm not allowed to get even slightly irritated at any of the questions – we've all missed things before. In turn, though, you must re-post this in your own journal.

Hit me with your rhythm stick.

Because that's what been indoctrinated in us to believe.

The sky may actually be red, but the majority of us are brought up to believe that hue is blue.

It's all a conspiracy I tell ya.

Cockburn ice rink in mid-October 1998.

A guy I'd met at an IRC party and was kinda friends with started taking me to ice skating. He was trying to crack onto me, but I didn't like him that way.

My first night at ice skating I met "the crowd". A guy who insisted his name was Msquared and this short guy who talked my ear off at McDonald's afterwards. I decided I kinda liked him.

2 weeks later was "the" Halloween Party at Msquared's old place, which we called Kensington Palace. After the midnight Maccas run there, we ended up on the floor snogging the rest of my time at the party... so yeah, that's how it started.

What fascinates you about birds that you want to study them? :)

Well I don't really study them much, I'm fascinated by any living organism for study.

I got into birdwatching though because they're easier to see than mammals (in Australia most mammals are small and nocturnal). I also thought it was a cheap hobby until I learned about good optical equipment (which can go into thousands of dollars, my current binoculars cost me $500 and they were a bargain, they usually cost at least $700).

Now it's an excuse to get outdoors and close to nature, it's an excuse to travel to get new birds (now every trip has the excitment of "what new birds will I see?"), and it's a collection too, I keep a list of every species I've seen and what I see every day.

Of course, with an interest in nature/biology it's also useful because birds are great environmental indicators, so watching them and keeping records is useful to keep track of what's going on environmentally too.

I finished the job in Broome in early November - it was just a contract job. I don't think I'd want to do that job again (at least not for the pay I was getting), but I really miss the place and my workmates, which became like family.

For the last 6/7 weeks I've been working as a file clerk and a records management place. Thing is, it was just temp work and I finish up today, so as of tomorrow I am unemployed again.
