The director commentary on the DVD sucks.

All they do is discuss how they made the shots. Not why they chose to include scenes that were dramatic and awe-inspiring but totally unrealistic.

Apparently the lava flow scene was one of the hardest to do - and completely unneccessary if they had wanted to movie to be acurate.
The guy does make a comment about how the water table thing is true and he got the info, "From a geologist." Pity that seems like all the research they did on volcanoes. *sigh*

But I'll continue to watch the movie because if I leave my brain at the door it's really quite spectacular.

At least it isn't Volcano. That movie should come with a built-in laugh track.

Hehe, I still haven't seen that movie all the way through. It is slightly unbelievable however. These people don't seem to understand the difference between basaltic and andesitic volcanoes.
