Does anyone know a quick easy way to save e-mails in Outlook Express?? Like, without opening each e-mail and saving it individually.

I went to help and learned how to compact folders for backup, but I can't find the damn folders can I? Apparently they are .dbx files, but search isn't finding 'em.

One day I will have a computer that works... pah, who am I kidding?

Depends on which version of express, if you've compacted them you may need to search for a .mbx file.

try under

\\c:\documents and setting\user\application data\microsoft\outlook

replace 'user' with the username you log onto the machine and the application data folder may be hidden.

Save them as openable files, you mean, or save them so you can reformat your drive and put them back later?

For the first one, as far as I know, no. For the second, yes, but I can't remember offhand. Google about a bit and you'll probably find it, or I can try and remember/find the instructions again when I get home, if you like. It's something to do with finding out where OE is storing your emails, copying the whole folder, formatting youre drive/whatever, then copying the folder back. So tis useless if you're wanting to read the emails in the meantime, but it's a good way to not lose your emails with a reset.

It took me years to figure this out--cos once you save them individually, you can't put them back in your OE folders. Not easily, anyway.

Ah, look the first is possible! :P You won't be able to get them neatly *back into OE after a reset though, with that method.

And here is what I was talking about, I think.

That looks like what I'm after.
