A big step forward

Greycat has taken to sleeping in the rose garden in the last few days. He'd been laying there for the last few hours and I noticed him again from the kitchen window. So I got out a bowl and filled it with cat bikkies and went to give him some. As I approached the garden he just looked at me, and I knew something was going to happen when he spoke. He miaowed twice, pretty loud. After trying to approach him in the garden with no success, I went around the side and put the bowl over the fence. He miaowed a bit more and slowly approached the bowl while I still stood there.
As he was eating I slowly leaned over the fence and patted him on the neck. He only flinched a little. Poor thing must be really hungry because his desire to eat was overcoming his desire not to be touched. I was able to lean down multiple times and gently stroke his neck and some of his head. He wouldn't eat out of my hand though when I tried, so I put the biscuits back in the bowl for him to finish off while I put stuff on the compost.
When I came back he was still eating but I couldn't approach him again, he ran off (not far, but far enough). I don't think the little yappy dog next door was helping.
ANY quick movements and he bolts. But this is certainly progress. :)
