You ever get to wondering if something actually happened or if it was a dream? I get that often.

For all you martial arts/self defence types. If I was to wallop someone over the head with a solid, blunt object (not awfully heavy - like, say, a pair of binoculars), where should I aim to knock them out?

I wouldn't bother with a pair of binoculars, you'd be more likely to break them than K.O. someone unless you got lucky and the person your hitting has a thin skull.

The one hit knockout is almost random, although a good fast punch straight on the end of the nose will leave them bleeding and their eyes watering to near incapacitation.

Fairy nuff.

I was just thinking, I often go walking alone in isolated spots and I have this hefty object on me, surely I could use it as a weapon.

If I was being attacked the bins wouldn't be a priority to save, but they are shockproof. ;)

side of the head (temple) is most effective and does the most damage, back of the head is good too

Side or back, but not too hard or you might accidentally kill them. If you hit them hard enough on the top or front you will still probably knock them out but if you miss or they happen to have a really hard head you'll just piss them off :)
