And I could have sworn they would. What did I do wrong?

Just because I'm bad at interviews?
Just because I'm not a people person?
Just because I can't LIE at an interview?

I CAN work with animals and talk people's ears off about them.

Shit, when I did prac at the zoo one employee there would dress up in makeup and jewellery and constantly bitch about what she had to do. How come SHE gets employed there and I don't even get a freakin' interview? I actually got to the interview for Caversham, but I obviously fucked something up.

who knows, but if you think your ego can take it, ring them up and demand some feedback on your interview performance so you know for next time.

They've lost a great worker.

that's the problem with the way selections for jobs are done... often the best candidate isnt the one who gets the job... having been on selection panels myself it's really difficult, all you have is what is on paper, a couple of references and maybe 20 minutes of talking to each candidate to go by... the public service takes measures to try and make the process more comprehensive, but what happens is that applicants end up writing page after page of 'statement addressing selection criteria' and the panel digesting that stuff slows the whole process down... (my last job, which I have JUST been appointed to, I wrote 9 pages plus my resume)

If it makes you feel any better ... I would have said you would be overqualified for Caversham and would be the obvious choice!

I had to fill out a selection criteria for this job.

My reference is glowing (I do only have one - BUT, they didn't ask for any).

One of the first concerns voiced was my degree. But I made it clear that I was aware of the pay (which is 3 times what Centerlink is giving me) and that I wanted the job.

My downfall must have been the interview. When asked my weakness I admitted I was not a people person but I COULD give presentations etc. because I care about the animals/conservation.

that weakness question sucks! i still dont know how to answer that one properly... I guess if I was honest my biggest weakness is that I tend to get bored easily... and i KNOW that I missed out on some nightfill jobs because of my answer to that question@!

Hey at least you got an interview ,I've gone for many a job and not even gotten a letter of "yeah we got your application " let alone an interview .

Although the weirdest was an interview and orientation on the same day and I still didn't get the job *sigh*
