I read the article again and I like it because I can totally relate to it.

I suppose this common misconception has to do with our being more intelligent, more reflective, more independent, more level-headed, more refined, and more sensitive than extroverts.

That does sound high and mighty, but gee, nothing to get so uptight about. That isn't the point of the article.

*goes back to brooding in a corner and disdaining small talk* :p

WHAT the... hold the phone. Wasn't the conclusion that the whole article is actually a pisstake?? If you're serious, lines like this...

"Extroverts are easy for introverts to understand, because extroverts spend so much of their time working out who they are in voluble, and frequently inescapable, interaction with other people. They are as inscrutable as puppy dogs... As often as I have tried to explain the matter to extroverts, I have never sensed that any of them really understood. They listen for a moment and then go back to barking and yipping."

...aren't likely to make us extroverts go all understanding and sympathetic-like. "OH WOW, I'm a YAPPING MORON and I have no clue about what any of my introverted friends need. Thanks for setting me straight. That man is a very smrt introvert..."

In any case, I'm going to stick it out in [livejournal.com profile] japester's camp and believe it's just a joke story. Otherwise I find it very difficult to deal with. It's too offensive. Us extroverts have feelings too, you know...
