In an attempt to bash through my current case of writers block I've starterd to write stuff in movie script style. I mean, that's how I see things in my head anyway.

Look out for the community [livejournal.com profile] squiggle_muse coming soon (like, after I get home). The comm. doesn't exist yet so if you click the link you'll get nothing. I'll also explain the name when I make the community.

In other news, something has died somewhere in the shop. And when it gets hot it reeks. I just fumigated with Glen 20.

Ah yes, the DVDs. The first of course was The Lost Boys. That hillarious 80's vampire brat pack movie. The other was Excess Baggage. I remember hearing about this movie when it came out as well as A Life Less Ordinary (which I haven't seen yet) which was released around the same time and had a similar theme. I had never seen Benicio Del Toro in a movie before (well, I did see some of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and just remember thinking "What the FUCK is this?!" Anyway, he's a pretty good actor. I like his character best in Excess Baggage.

And a last question, for the fangirls (and boys) - How did the word "slash" originate? Just started wondering after reading PotO in 15 minutes again. Man that thing still cracks me up even after reading it 20 or so times.

And despite the relocation of Kenneth, the other king brown was seen this morning. Now, no-ones really sure which of the snakes was Kenneth in the first place so this could still be him. Kenneth is pretty much just a generic name for "Resident king brown snake".

according to a book I have (gender studies: terms and debates) the term slash originated from the fanfiction pairing of Kirk/Spock. the forward slash (or oblique) was used to show the pairing, and thus any homosexual pairing is now described as slash.

I must say it is so amusing when you are reading an academic text book and discover they not only talk about Trek, but about slash too :P (is an Australian authored book too!)

I'm not a veteran slasher by any means, but I believe it derives from the slash put between the names of the characters you're slashing. For example:

Cloud/Sephiroth

By putting the slash in the middle you're slashing them.

OK, I'm crap at explaining things, and someone will probably come along and correct me soon enough. =P

So then... using a slash to indicate a guy/girl couple is incorrect?

So it should be Erik & Christine but it's Erik/Raoul? hehe

3 weeks, 2 days. 2 days till I'm a young adult.

A young adult is anyone post-pubescent. At least according to biology and neurology and section marked "Young Adult" at my local library ;-)

hehe

The whole "Young adult at 26" thing started when I studied Human Services at TAFE. According to some developmental psychologist (or something - I forget his name too), adolescence goes from 12 (or was it 15?) to 26, then young adulthood starts.

I remember making a card for my brother's 26th where I wrote "You're finally a young adult!" He was kinda weirded out by it because most people see 26 as being well into adulthood.

Either way, it implies responsibility. At 18 I realised growing up sucks and regressed back to 12 years old. Responsibility shmonsibility.

Ahh, I think I know who that is. Someone quite forgettable that's for sure.

Their position is in stark contradiction to that of the giants of developmental psychology such as Piaget and Kohlberg.

From what I know, the term slash originated from the "/" inbetween the two (or more) characters in any given pairing, and just later developed into meaning the same sex pairings we know and loved. Kinda like dinosaurs becoming kangaroos.
