But I like it!

Pick an interest from my interests page that either:
1) you know nothing about but sounds intriguing
or
2) you know something about but would love to know what the hell I see in it/why it interests me. Comment and demand an explanation.

Ah, everyone asks about the cryptozoology.

I really think there should be a unit on it at uni.

Just... the possibility (and sometimes reality) of finding a new, large species is amazing.

I have this dream of visiting the Congo rainforest and finding the REAL Mkele Mbembe, who I don't think is a bloody dinosaur, it's probably a forest dwelling species of rhino.

Birdies!

I started that early last year because birds are easier to find than mammals, and I mistakenly thought it was a cheap hobby (before I discovered that decent optics cost more than my car did!) It's way to get close to nature, an excellent excuse to travel, something to keep you amused wherever you are. And right now it's also my job. I work/live at a Bird Observatory.

Medical anamolies - Freaks! Medical boo-boos! I have a case of train wreck syndrome and this stuff fascinates me. I'd love to study medicine - but seeing as I never intend to practise it's not really worth the trouble.

Divacup - Divacup! & Mooncup! The best things since sliced bread. Stop producing mounds of waste each month, stop paying a packet for pads and tampons each month, stop pandering to companies that sell their products by preying on people's insecurities, stop using products that are bad for the environment and bad for you. Be clean and comfortable every month! *squee* *hugs Divacup*

Food Porn - Recipe books - with pictures. Mmm, food porn. Matt and I like to lay in bed and look at food porn together, then we might go out to a restaurant or get fancy in the kitchen and indulge - haha we are twisted. :)

Homm3 - Heroes of Might & Magic 3 (I guess you can figure out was HOMM4 is now). One of my favourite computer games (turn based strategy set in a fantasy/medieval world).

Multiverse Theory - I originally read about it in Michael Moorcock's Eternal Champion series but I'd kind of figured it out myself and it's mentioned in many other books - it's pretty much the theory of parallell universes and the infinite possibilities that lie in them.

Sinfest - Sinfest. Hillarious online comic.

Snopes - Urban Legends Reference Page. I spend hours here just hitting the random button. Possibly the best site on the web because it's brilliantly researched and regularly updated.

Twolumps - The adventures of two overly spoiled Russian Blue cats. Another hillarious webcomic.

Free Form Role Play - RP without rules, I play it on mIRC. Create a character, jump in and play. None of this character sheet and stats nonsense. I usually play WoD based stuff, my favourite character to play is a vampire (but not a rulebook race).

I was actually really lucky and someone sent me one for free (I was just in the right place at the right time). You have to get them via mail order and they cost around $60Au. But they are so worth it because they can last around 10 years - perhaps longer.

You can order straight off the websites. I believe the Mooncup is slightly cheaper - and I think their customer service is better. But I have a Divacup myself.

Whatever you do, don't get a Keeper (similar product made of latex rather than silicone) - their customer service is shocking.
