After a little thinking aloud the chapter came to me. I'm collaborating with someone for the whole story, they've written about 3 chapters already.

"Joe, would you be able to do me a favour?" Elisabeth batted her eyelashes at Joe Buquet, the son of Theodore Buquet, Master of the flies. Joseph spent a lot of time assisting his father with the management of backdrops and such for the opera productions. It was supposed that one day he would take Theodore's place. Both Joseph and his father made no effort to hide the crude English heritage on Joe's grandmother's side of the family. Joe was a few years Elisabeth's senior and it was no secret that both father and son often lusted after the ballet girls. Joseph turned at the voice and smiled as he realised who made the request.
"What's in it for me?"
"I'll let you in on a secret." Elisabeth had been bursting to tell someone, ANYONE about Erik's existence. This had offered the best opportunity so far. Joe had no idea what kind of secret, but he fancied to take a guess from the way Elisabeth smiled at him.
"What does the lady request?" Elisabeth inwardly grimaced, quite aware of what Joe's assumptions were. Both knew however that young Master Buquet would be in a world of trouble if he tried anything.
"I need rope, lots of it, as much as you can get." Joe raised an eyebrow. "It's part of the secret." What was there to lose?
"I suppose I can manage that." Elisabeth flashed him another stunning smile.
"Thank you so much. Meet me by the ballet rooms after supper." Joe nodded and walked away, stopping briefly to turn his head and eye the ballet girl, half in curiousity, half in appreciation of her figure.

As requested Joseph appeared after supper, carrying two large bundles of rope over his shoulder.
"Oh my Lord you managed to get so much! Erik WILL be pleased!" Elisabeth suddenly closed her mouth, realising what she had just revealed.
"Erik?"
"Follow me." Elisabeth led him into the cellars from the alcove then down passageways to the meeting point by the lake.
"What are we doing down here Lissa?"
"Erik... he's a boy who lives down here. He came from the carnival, I let him hide here and here he stays." Joe nodded slowly.
"Right I see. Of course. A boy who lives in the catacombs." He made no attempt to hide the patronising tone in his voice but Elisabeth ignored it. They soon enough reached the meeting point where Erik waited. Even behind the mask his frown was obvious. Elisabeth expected nothing less.
"Who is this?!" He demanded.
"This, is Joseph Buquet, a friend of mine. He has the rope you requested, the exchange was that I introduce you. Your secret is still safe with just us three." Joseph walked up to Erik, taking the fact that Elisabeth's wild story was actually true in his stride. He dumped the coils of rope at his feet.
"Why the mask?" Joe frowned. "I bet you're one of the boys from (where? the markets? the stables? obviously someone of a lesser class), trying to get Miss Leroux here to steal for you!" He reached out towards Erik's face.
"Joseph no!" Elisabeth cried, but it was too late. Joseph stared wide eyed and yelled in surprise. Erik grabbed his wrist in an unusually strong grip and shook Joseph, Even though the older boy was also bigger.
"How DARE you!" Erik growled, half at Joseph and half at Elisabeth. "I hope your curiousity's sated! I'd kill you now if I had the means!" He pushed Joseph to the ground where he scrambled back and stood up again near Elisabeth in a vain attempt to protect her, although she needed no protection. Erik turned to look at Elisabeth accusingly and noticed tears streaming down her face.
"I though I could trust him..." She pleaded.
"You thought WRONG didn't you! No go! And if either of you says a word I'll take care of you my own way." The pair turned and fled as Erik slowly crouched and picked up the mask and put it back in place.
