Nov. 8th, 2004 08:58 pmWent into town with Kitty (
riverstar) this afternoon and did some shopping/browsing. Bought a dress and a funky pair of pants from op-shops and some stringing cord from Lincraft.
And we had Jaws for dinner. I had never been there before so it was a bit new. But VERY cool! I must go back now. We happened to be there during happy hour (which actually lasts 2.5 hours) when you can get 30% off all dishes and a free bowl of miso soup. They also give you free green tea.
I started with a safe california roll. Then I got adventurous. I tried raw fish finally. Didn't excite me much, not a pleasant texture and very little flavour. Maybe the more expensive sashimi tuna or salmon would be better. The grilled unagi however was awesome. I ended with rolls that were similar to california rolls but inside out and rolled in flying fish roe - they were nice. I am now severly craving more sushi.
Then we headed to Rosie O'Grady's to cheer on Joey (
emu_bitter_babe) & Tom (
squasher) in the SBS karaoke competition. The impression was we would have booked seats but obviously lines were crossed (or we were just too late) and there were no seats to be had so we stood. They were up first and rocked as usual. Pity they didn't get to sing the whole song (Paradise By The Dashboard Light - I guess a 7 minute song is too much for TV - pffflt). We then stuck around to see the second contestant sing Wind Beneath My Wings then figured we'd just head home because our feet were hurting.
I got home at quarter to 8 so I sat down and watched the Idol verdict, seeing as I had only missed the first 15 minutes and none of the important stuff. I expect Courtney's album very soon and thank GOD Casey is through. I really really really really really really think she should win, she's utterly amazing.
