And no, not aimed at the person who posted it.

I actually did this quiz myself and got Depressing. *shrugs*

smart
You are a smart one. Dear Christ...you're
annoying...You probably take pleasure from
making other people confused. It's not cool
man, it's annoying. If you keep trying to act
smarter than everyone else soon all you'll have
is yourself, because no one wants to be around
someone who makes them feel like an idiot.
Being smart is good, but showing it off isn't.

Why don't people like you?
brought to you by Quizilla

No-one wants to be around someone who makes them feel like an idiot. You don't have to be an idiot. YOU can learn just as easily as anyone else.

I thought people stopped thinking it was uncool to actually learn things once they got out of highschool. It's like a return to schoolyard bullying. "Let's beat up the science kids!" "That kid always gets As, they must be a teacher's pet."

*sigh* Why do so many people ENJOY wallowing in their own ignorance?

I don't think it's actually enjoying wallowing in ignorance. I think it's just terminal stupidity. There is no cure...

people enjoy being stupid. i know that growing up in a poor neighborhood, it was considered more "cool" to be stupid and get in trouble than to behave and do your work. especially if a parent does not encourage learning, but only believes that a child should only go to school until they can get a job or have a baby. cycle of ignorance. some people don't want their children to acheive more than they did because it makes them look like a failure. or the idea of acting above your station in life--that you have a set place in life and should stay there. then again, i could be talking complete nonsense.

this would be typed better but my glasses are broken and i am waiting for them to dry after being glued together.

I be not a person who is wallowing. I am taking German, I hope to take Anat and Phys again (human body highly fascinates me)
And it may just take me forever but I am aiming to finish year 12 too.

But yes I do agree people do seem to enjoy their own stupidity way too much.

There's social niches that kids are meant to fit neatly into. I never did fit in at highschool. I was a nerd, but I wasn't smart. I failed in my studies most of the time, but I didn't vent it out like the "bad" kids who thought it was cool to be stupid. I had nerd friends that were clever, though they constantly looked down on me because I found it harder than the average student to learn things. I think the real smart people learn that there is no pigeon holes that humans neatly fit into.

Do you still get hassled for being smart?

I'm sure there are many who would agree with me on this point: as a smart person (proven by aforementioned online quiz) I have to say that I prefer talking to other smart people - the ones who don't respond with blank looks and glazed eyes to my normal level of communication. Frankly, it's much more satisfying to make the effort of finding friends who can be on your wavelength, rather than debasing your own intelligence just to fit in with the lowest-common-denominator crowd.
