New computer.
Win98 SE
Me being stupid and not downloading AVG virus scanner or the Windows updates right away.
Me being unable to find the option to view e-mails in plain text only format.
Me noticing a file being sent in the status window of mIRC and thinking "bloody spammers" then being asked "Why are you sending me crap?"
I thought you were sending ME crap!!
Fucking spam e-mails!!
*downloads AVG*
Restarts computer because AVG asks.
FOUND! Swen.a worm *growls*
Almost an hour of looking around to fix it because no application will run now.
Eventually went to karaoke. Figured I'll possibly have to format. No great loss, computer has only been up 5 days.
Managed to get AVG running from the boot up, leave that going while we sleep.
Delete or heal all those infected files.
Wow, it's STILL not working!
Google around and find the instructions on the Symantec page.
Matt being computer savvy talks nicely to my computer using Symantec instructions.
Computer now works again. Patches installed and virus scan run before even opening outlook.
And hey look, possibly it needed the patch to give the option of viewing e-mail in plain text format because I found the option right away this time around.
So yeah, if you recieved a dodgy e-mail from me. Delete it right away. My computer is clean again so you won't be getting any more.

Date: 2003-12-05 08:03 pm (UTC)I _think_ it's combination of the computer not being that new so XP will chomp resources and the fact that the boy wants to put some games on this computer that won't run on his computer (which has XP).
This is fair however, while he's playing old games on this machine I can play Sims on his machine. My computer can't really handle Sims yet.
When I get a decent computer it will definetly have XP. After seeing it in action I am amazed. Crashes don't take the whole computer down! *shock*

Date: 2003-12-05 08:24 pm (UTC)also it only has dodgy graphics and sound so it may as well run a dodgy OS that allows for all the games we have to be installed and run on it.
When she upgrades to a decent machine, then XP will definitelly be on it.

I might be a little late to your party btw, I got called in to work this morning (from which place I am typing this, hehe. Go the free net access at work--I LOVE this job.) and I don't finish til 5.
