THE West Australian government has rejected a proposal for a controversial development near the environmentally-sensitive Ningaloo Reef.
"I think there were far too many risks involved in accepting this development,"
Premier Geoff Gallop said.
"The amount of information that we had available ... led me to the conclusion that this would carry risks, and if we were to lose the integrity of this areas I think that would be a dereliction of duty for any government."


The Premier finally did something intelligent

I cannot wait until we catch up with the rest of the country.

I remember in Adelaide at 2am we wanted fruit, we wandered down the road to the local supermarket and BOUGHT FRUIT! It's bloody brilliant having things open 24/7.

It might be GREAT for you to walk down to the supermarket once a year for that odd, once in a lifetime peice of fruit, but it isn't so GREAT for all those small shop owners and smaller level supermarket trying to survive extinction.
