gemfyreSo, I'm trying to write a bit of Terminator fic.
John immediately greets Derek and acts as if Derek should know him.
He is obviously shocked to see Kyle, and the woman Cameron was modelled on. She must be a human because she's petting a dog and it's panting happily instead of trying to rip her arm off. He doesn't know who Allison is... yet.
What more can he do but tell the truth when Derek and Kyle push? The reason he's appeared here, naked, looking quite stunned is because he's from 2009 (or 1997, as the case may be) and has travelled through time. He is able to describe Skynet's upcoming technologies, terminators, infiltrators. He obviously has some experience with them.
So, why were they so involved with you? Derek asks.
What does John say? "Yeah I'm gonna become the leader of the resistance." Blah blah.
Hrm, maybe he DOES tell them the truth about that, because heck, the chances of that happening NOW are shattered right?... right?
Of course no. John being the 1337 h4x0r that he is able to reprogram these damn terminators if they're captured and subdued. Not to mention he probably finds and has the help of John Henry. After a Skynet facility is taken one time he holes himself up in it for a month a so and builds and infiltration unit - from scratch. No hardwired command to terminate. These will be the information infiltrators he eventually sends into the past.
Derek remains distrustful. Kyle becomes a friend, luckily, because he's still vital. Allison becomes a lover. That darn photo turns up in the ashen ruins of a house somewhere.
Allison gets kidnapped - by Skynet or John Henry? The Cameron terminator is designed and manufactured. One gets into the resistance camp and on seeing it John immediately knows of course. Alas, this is not Allison, but it will be Cameron.
Eventually the time comes when the Resistance breaks into the time displacement facility. Are they still on the brink of win or lose like they were in the first timeline? If they are, then John must send Kyle back after the original T-800. If they are not, then he has the luxury of sneding back the info-bots, and the two protectors for Sarah, Ellison and Savannah. But does he still need to send Kyle back?
And then of course, he gets the honour of going back himself. To the place in the timeline where he should be for his age. With the twins help he finds Ellison and a teenage Savannah. Sarah has died of cancer during his abscence. He finds Juanita Salceda and they set up the website to gather a resistance together before the war...
Ahhhh, my brain feels lighter now.
