I want to manage 9 months here just so I can say I did it. And have many tales to tell about what went on up here.

I'll have to deal with the fact that my feet are going to be perpetually grotty because I have to walk along a sandy track between my room and the showers.
I HATE all the bugs at night, especially in my room. But eventually I fall asleep and don't notice the bugs anymore. Then it's light again eventually.

It'll probably be better once Chris gets here (tonight), then I'll have company near me. And once guests start arriving I should be able to settle a bit more.
Also seriously considering getting beads sent up. Discman is being temperamental at the moment so I have no music right now. :( I'm singing instead.

If I continue to eat like I did yesterday I'm gonna lose weight up here no problem. Had the usual bowl of cereal/juice for breakfast, a nectarine for morning tea, a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch and maybe a third of a packet risotto for dinner. No microwave and dodgy cooking facilities should help.

2 new birds already this morning - Great Bowerbird and Torresian Crow.

It sucks to be living so close to the beach (I can hear the wader flocks from the office here), but not be able to swim.

Summer is the time for stingers in the water, but even if there weren't stingers I still couldn't swim because it's a mangrove flat full of protected waders - which you don't want to scare.

I wish I had my own car, I'd be nicking off to town all the time. I hope I do get into town and can do things there, or this is gonna be hell.
