They are pens!
Oct. 30th, 2004 01:17 pmWell. That was a disspointing 4 hours. I sold ONE thing (yay to
roshy for buying it!!) Made $5, which admittedly is a profit but hardly $300.
I'm a useless seller. I just feel like I'm being rude and intrusive if I try to sell stuff so I just say hi and let customers look and answer any questions (of which there were barely any) and then they nod and smile and keep walking. A few people seemed interested in the copy of RCT until they realised it wasn't for X-box (well duh, do you see any bright, obnoxious green on the package?)
It wasn't a complete waste. I met
roshy and she stayed and chatted with me for a while which was cool. I also chatted a bit to the two women across from me. One was selling just general household junk and the other was selling fake flowers.
But you see, they weren't just flowers - they were PENS! Everybody who walked past she'd tell them "They're pens!" Eventually she made a sign saying "They are pens!" The idea is that the flower is attched to the pen with floral tape so it just looks like the stem. You put a few of these flowers into a pot with sand or foam or whatever to support them and everyone thinks you have a pretty little floral arrangement. You put these arrangements by your phone and never again will you be infuriated by the fact that all the pens have gone missing when you want to take a note because your flowers are pens! And no-one else knows so no-one else steals them. Nifty. I bought two off her, she was doing such a good job of selling (50c each, I bought a carnation and orchid - the carnation is definetely for mum, who often bitches about pens going AWOL). She then gave me and the other woman a free one each (I got one with 3 small roses on it then).
That all made the morning bearable and amusing.
