Shopping...
Jul. 21st, 2003 11:28 amI just went shopping. Spent almost $40 and it was just a small grocery shop... ouch.
BUT, 600g of diced lamb cost me over $6 o.O. The ground cardamom costs almost $4! But at least now I have pretty much everything for a lamb tagine. Leaving out the pepper and chilli (well, might put a little black pepper in, recipe calls for white pepper). Exchanged raisins for prunes (mmm prunes) and didn't bother getting pistachio nuts because they were all still in the shell and expensive.
In the bargain bin was cheap wasabi and sushi rice. So I splurged and bought some nori sheets and a rolling mat and am now ready to make sushi!!
Questions - is white vinegar a suitable alternative to rice vinegar?
how should I cook the chicken for it? I'm thinking poached, but I don't know HOW to poach chicken.
I have asparagus to put in it also, should be interesting.
Uni starts tomorrow, gak.
