Casablanca Moroccan Restaurant - Mosman Park

We walked into an empty Casablanca Restaurant. The place is pretty small. We were seated next to the window and immediately had our glasses filled with water, it's great when you don't have to ask for it. Our host even replaced the water throughout the night when we ran out, all without as asking.

We started with some Moroccan herb and garlic flatbread. Which to me looked just like Turkish bread but that wasn't the point. It was really hot and yummy.

I ordered a lamb dish, I can't remember it's name but it involved lamb, prunes, carrots, zucchini, butternut pumpkin, red capsicum, slivered almonds, saffron, coucous... all served in an orange ceramic bowl (originally with a lid, which meant the food inside was piping hot) The coucous was actually served on the side (also awfully hot!) but I put it straight into the liquid that surrounded my food, that's what couscous is for - soaking up sauce. I took a while to eat it since it was so hot but wow. It was just spicy enough that it wasn't too hot for me. The lamb just fell to bits when I touched it, you could eat this meat with a spoon. The pumpkin was JUICY!! It was really bizarre but very yummy. The capsicum was the same kind of juicy. And the prunes which I left till last... *shivers in ecstacy*, they were lovely. :) The bowl looked small at the start but I kept finding more and more lamb. I did manage to get all the way through it though. :)

Matt got a chicken dish served with veggies and smothered in a mustard sauce. He says the chicken was cooked wonderfully too and there were at least two breasts there - a lot of meat. The mustard sauce was lovely and the veggies were also good - he ate all of them, except the pumpkin and capsicum which he doesn't like so I ate them. :) He had the same veggies as me and potato as well.

It was slightly more pricey than most places we go, probably due to it being in Mosman Park. But the food was well worth it. I'd go back.

Your dish was called tagine lamb with prunes. Mine was called Casablanca Chicken Breast.
It had a nice lemon and seeded mustard sauce with onion in it and it was 2 breasts that were cooked perfectly.

I don't know why precisely, but somehow the beans aren't increasing my salivation. :P
