Stewart's at Brookleigh
Feb. 16th, 2008 10:04 pmSeeing as -
a) Valentine's Day fell on weekday, so Matt had to work during the day.
b) Valentine's Day fell on a Thursday, and we needed to do some shopping
and c) It's impossible to get a booking for anywhere on Valentine's Day unless you plan well ahead -
we decided to go out tonight instead. I wanted a steak of some description. I ended up getting a duck and porcini risotto while Matt got chicken breast stuffed with mango and prawns. We also decided to get a starter - Venison chorizo, which was interesting, but a little too hot for me. We ended it all with a Bombe Alaska, the orange syrup on it was divine.
The place was nice, the service was good, but they sure don't teach the waitresses anything about food. Among the specials apparently there was "cool-iss" (coulis) and "choreezo" and our desert was a "bombay alaska". We had to hold back our giggles until the poor girl had left. She was great, but a little education would go a long way.
