Let there be rock
Sep. 16th, 2007 09:14 pmLil is such a pest. Here I am with my laptop on my lap, and she wants to sit on me too.
Sorry, Coldplay and Oasis are just not on the same level as Led Zeppelin and AC/DC.
Mattus
Immigrant Song - Led Zeppelin
The outfit is all wrong for this song. The high notes are hillarious. Best comedy song so far! Stick that man in a viking kitten suit. Okay, but seriously, I'm impressed at all the places his voice can go.
Lil finally got off my lap to snuggle up to Bella. They're killing me with the cute again!
Carrrrl
Clocks - Coldplay
Are the girls going to scream whenever they show one of the guys shirtless? WTF is Sharpies?
Ya know, Carl's swing schtick is really starting to bug me. It's fine when he's doing funky swing songs, but his need to turn every song into a scatfest is giving me the shits. (Excuse the pun). I like you as a person Carl, but you need to go.
Ooooh, even Marcia has "nothing to say".
God, the fact that the ads are twice as loud as the show annoys the crap out of me too.
Briiiiiiana
The Logical Song - Supertramp
This song suits her. She had a growl there for half a second. A lot more of that is what she needs. The cutesy twitter is getting tiresome now too.
Ah yes, we are having a replay of Marcia vs. Chanel. Woo!
Brianna has a website with her own songs on it. She seems to have quite a following in Qld. Why is she sucking so much?
Marteeeeeeee
Jenny Don't Be Hasty - Paolo Nutini
He needs to do a Doors song. I would squee.
Ooh, I love this song too, and it really suits his voice. Oops, fell out of time for a sec there. Well, most rock singers are drunk or stoned and out of time anyway so it's forgiven. Best performance so far.
Oh dear, I fear for Lana.
Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaana
Come On - Little Birdy
Wow, I'm impressed. She has the best voice in the competition, she just needs to get edgier, but that was a good step up.
Pfflt, screw the judges. I liked that, best performance so far.
Jacob. Doing Oasis. How f'n predictable. Oasis is Britpop, not rock.
Jaaaaaaay-cob
What's The Story? (Morning Glory) - Oasis
I hate his voice. Sure, rock performance, but all I liked about it was the song, which I hadn't heard in ages.
What IS Rock 'n' Roll? Rock is many many things. If someone does Still Rock 'N' Roll To Me by Billy Joel I will be a happy chickie. There are novelty rock acts. There are soft and hard rock acts. They dabble in everything from power ballads to hardcore and punk. Bugger this "That's not rock" crap.
Tarrrrisaiiiiii
Hard To Handle - Black Crowes (originally Otis Redding)
Bet she does a Tina Turner song. Because in some ways, Tina Turner is rock too.
Bleh. Chris Robinson is so cool with this song. Tarisai was not. The song didn't even allow her to use her voice to it's best.
Bennnnnji Mac!
Bodies - Little Birdy
That wasn't "rock" (whatever rock may be), but it was a good performance anyway. I'm really liking Benji. He's surprised me.
Daaaaaaaaaaan
Fire - Jimi Hendrix
Yep, nailed it. Bit of a clone of the original, I loved the version by Crucial Taunt on Wayne's World. He'll get votes by default. He's the Dean of this year.
Naaatalieeee
Sweet Child O' Mine - Guns 'N' Roses (but more like the Sheryl Crow version)
I hate how she's chopped and changed the verses. She could have done much better choosing a shorter song and singing all of it. She can be soooo much better than that performance. Bleh.
Since when has Axl Rose been a blonde Marcia? The man is a Scottish redhead through and through.
Mark. Da. Costaaaaaaaaa
High Voltage - AC/DC
At least from here on in we'll see Mark more OUT of his comfort zone than in it. That will be interesting. I wanna see him sing a ballad (sure it can be a power ballad, that's still rock).
