Can you tell I'm bored?
Jul. 23rd, 2007 08:05 pmI watched V For Vendetta again last night. The convoluted story made a bit more sense this time. The visuals and the overall message were still as strong as ever. I've possibly posted this before, but once again I've pondered the similarities between V and Erik - The Phantom Of The Opera.
Both wear masks.
Both leave blood red roses at the scene of the crime.
Both live in underground lairs.
Both have a deep admiration for art.
Both fall for a much younger woman.
Both have a penchant for blowing things up (V much more so).
Both are disfigured.
Both are very poetic/romantic.
Both have a strong desire for revenge.
Both go under pseudonyms ("V", "O.G.")
Both die at the end of the story - after the young woman finally falls in love with them.
Both were parodied by Cleolinda of Movies In 15 Minutes.

And I just discovered this joy.
The poster has made a whole series of "V and Erik" cartoons.
