gemfyreTransperth apparently has ads featuring a gorilla with a fez. Middle Eastern groups are offended by this. "Why did they chose that particular hat? Why not a cap? Or a slouch hat? Why does it have a hat at all? It MUST be a having a go at us poor Middle Easterners again."
No, a fez is just FUNNY. Ask Matt Groening. Get over yourselves.
And apparently the pope says something about Islam leading to violence. Islams respond by torching churches and burning effigies of the pope and demanding a personal apology, thus proving him right. Absolutely, Christianity/Catholocism also leads to much violence, as does pretty much every religion, but it doesn't make what he's said any less true. He aplogised anyway, stupid diplomacy. If you say something, mean it and don't relent as soon as someone complains, or just don't say it in the first place.
