This place is so damn quaint. It's like some English Summer holiday getaway. Everyone in the water having fun, some swimming, some building sandcastles, some canoeing, some boogie boarding, some on water trikes, some on paddle boats. The Moore River often doesn't break through to the ocean so there's about 10 metres of sand between the end of the river and the ocean, so you can take your pick of calm river to swim in, or the ocean. Very, very cool. I think we should holiday up there for a few days, would be lovely.
The rest of the day was pretty cool too, although I don't recommend eating at the Lancelin Beachfront Bar & Cafe. $20 for a Seafood basket, usually that feeds two easily so we got it between us. There were 2 overcooked squid rings, 2 prawn cutlets, 1 scallop, 2 PIECES of crabstick and 2 small pieces of fish, and a scummy amount of chips. Usually in a $20 seafood platter you at LEAST get two WHOLE crabsticks and a full fillet of fish. Ah yes, the salad, which was surprisingly nice, also had a cute lil' caterpillar crawling on the lettuce. This we complained about and they deducted the price of the garlic bread we also ordered ($4). Now, the seafood and chips part actually WAS enough for us, but for $20 I expect a lot more on my plate thank you very much.
We also checked out the Gravity Centre at Gingin, which was okay but needs some work.
And I got badly sunburned. *self flagellates* I am such an idiot.
But all in all a day well spent.
