Almost a week down.
Feb. 6th, 2005 09:05 pmRelatively pleasant day.
Visited the house of Chris Hassel - leader of the netting/banding people. Learned a lot about waders and netting and banding, all very interesting. And learned it all in air-conditioned comfort. We were also a fed an awesome lunch. The vegan polenta pie and rice salad were pretty darn good. The chocolate cake was also great.
Ricki is a bit annoying with her not understanding that I'm from a place where there are actually facilities and it's a bit of effort to adjust. No microwave. Must make provision to do the washing during the day because the lines are miles away and not lit at night. Anyone who visits - bring a good torch, the place is pitch dark at night, it's horrid.
Going "chatting" (i.e. looking for Chats, a kind of bird) on the plains tomorrow with the 2 guests. Will break out the GP boots, pretty muddy out there. Hopefully it doesn't get TOO hot.
