He e-mailed a few people on the Birds Australia list that had mentioned copies of thier book that he either hadn't heard of, or had authorised - but not for release until June/July.
I have the 6th edition of the book but it came packaged with a mysterious logbook. On Sunday also I saw the "Claremont Edition" which is a paperback version, another guy on the birdwalk had it - apparently this is an edition which shouldn't be out yet.
So now I am assisting in finding out what the heck Penguin Publishing is doing publishing stuff without thier authorisation. I may even get a signed 7th edition of their book out of it. I'm glad to help - I like filling out questionnares and solving mysteries.
It will be interesting to see just what is going on.
