Since when did "barenaked" become part of the English vocabulary. People are beginning to use it as if it's a genuine word. It hasn't even seen a dictionary. "Bare" and "naked" mean similar things but "barenaked" is NOT an actual word, I wish these dumb uneducated types would stop using it like it is.

And "loose" has made it into official documents, soon it will be offered as the alternative spelling to "lose" in dictionaries *shudders*.

Basic spelling people!!! It's not that hard!!

Languages evolve and change over time. Words that are commonly used become an official part of the language over time. Look at the acronym "F.U.C.K", which originally started out as a notation in a ships log to descripe someone flogged and then keel hauled "Flogged. Under. Captains. Keel." So of course, when somebody was thus punished, the sailors would exclaim "Well, he just got fucked!" Sailors being sailors, and sex being constantly on their minds from the lack therof they get at sea, its not surprising that this eventually got turned into a sexual expression as WELL as being used to indicate that something bad just happened to someone.
And now, its in the dictionary.
I would not be surprised if barenaked eventually made it in there too someday soon.
Stop resisting the evolution of language. A language that stops evolving is a dead language, and a symbol of cultural stagnation. YOU WANT US TO STAGNATE, DON'T YOU!!!! TRAITOR TO THE SPECIES!!!!!

I have heard 2 other tales of the origin of fuck.

The first is that it is short for "fucksalver" (another word I have never heard of), which means idiot or something.

The other is that it stands for "For unlawful carnal knowledge", which by the way is the name of a Van Halen album.

I didn't know there was more than one tale.
Interesting.
The For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge could probably apply to sailors too yknow.
