Feb. 17th, 2003 10:12 pmNow I don't hafta open up the LJ FAQ whenever I wanna do something fancy.
Burnt my finger cooking chips. Teatowels are not good substitutes for pot mits. But they were all that was around. Pity I got the the thin/nonexistent bit. Lucky it's my left hand but you don't realise how much you use the middle finger on your left hand. It doesn't hurt too badly now, had it on ice all thru bowling but boy it stung like nobody's buisness for an hour or two after I did it.
Been considering our spider. She has a friend now, a smaller orb that weaves her web beneath the spotlight. I'm assuming both these spiders are shes seeing they are huge and male spiders are generally small and insignificant. Okay, main spider. She is huge, obviously a healthy specimen. Possibly due to the fact that she has a bit of prime real estate to build her web on, pretty much an insect highway. The spoils must outweigh the disadvantage of the web being destroyed on a regular basis by cars. Respinning the web must take a lot of energy (I have never seen her respin it but I have never waited long enough to see, I assume she would, seeing it's still pretty early in the night most times when it's destroyed. Spiders eat their webs in the morning to gain back the protien used spinning them - did you know that? Anyway, that's my background in animal behaviour and stuff kicking in, considering things like this.
Got the reader for Science, Truth & Power. I think I will take it back and not do the unit. It barely touches on actual science. It's all semantics and philosophy and questioning whether science is true or not. Gah, not what I expected, don't want to waste my time and money on that.
Shud shower and sleep, 8:30 start tomorrow - ugh.
