So this is a woman who, a few days after her wedding, watches her husband get hanged and is then raped under his dangling corpse.

Then she gets pregnant and I suppose she hopes that it may be her husband’s kid so she keeps it.

But knows as soon as she sees the babes eyes that this kid belongs to the lovely Lord Bolton.

Now, imagine you’re a peasant woman in Westerosi society. You generally just keep your mouth shut and accept your lot.

Not the Miller’s Wife(tm). Oh no she struts right up to her Lord and says, “Hey, this is your kid! What the fuck are you gonna do about it?” So he pays her child support in the hopes she’ll keep her mouth shut.

So she raises this little shit until he’s twelve, when he starts to become a real handful. Instead of just accepting her lot, or sending him off somewhere she goes back to Lord Bolton and tells him, “Goddamnit, your little shit’s getting unruly, I need a babysitter!” So Roose gives her one, in the form of Reek and makes her swear she’ll shut her goddamn mouth about this bastard from now on.

But he forgets, this is the Miller’s Wife(tm). Nooo, she’s not gonna keep quiet. She gives this shit a serious sense of entitlement. She makes it clear to him that he is the son of a goddamn Lord and he should be OWED shit because of it. Ramsay takes the advice to heart. How dare Roose have trueborn heirs.

I have issues with these (Bolton) banners. Why the fuck are they Tully colours? I was confused until I saw the sigil. THE BOLTON COLOURS ARE PINK AND RED OKAY!

Seriously. Why oh why can't you put a pink cloak with red spatters on Roose and Ramsay? And is a single garnet earring REALLY that hard for the costume department to source? Cosplayers do a better job!

Why is the show so goddamn drab? They also decoloured Daario. And Renly's Rainbow Guard. And I've yet to see Lem and his lemoncloak.

Seriously, imagine if Tywin WASN’T a huge wanker to Tyrion and they did put their heads together.

1. The realm would be effectively and capably ruled as it never has been before, and

2. Varys would rapidly have the pair of them killed off because God forbid we should have a stable and/or non-Targaryen government in Westeros.

Feh, bugger this pussy baptism where we just pour seawater over your head. Show us a REAL Ironborn baptism!

I was pondering this last night. Of all the 5 kings (and Daenerys, who is styling herself as a queen), Robb is the only one that didn’t ask to be a king.

Joffrey is king on the throne because he’s always been the crown prince and he believes it’s his right. Also, it’s generally believed by the Westerosi public that he is the successor.

Stannis is king because he’s technically next in line, and he’s gonna goddamn fight for what’s ‘right’, even though he begrudges actually BEING king.

Renly is king because he thinks he’ll do a good job.

Balon is king because he fucking well wants to be.

Daenerys is queen because she believes she is the rightful heir to the throne (and she has dragons).

Robb on the other hand was just marching south to get some justice for his father. He never asked for a bunch of his bannermen to suddenly kneel and declare him King in the North. He would have been quite happy being plain ol’ Lord Stark.

It wasn’t far into watching Game of Thrones that I thought to myself, “Hrm, the Targaryens remind me of the Melniboneans from the Elric Saga.”

Rhaegar Targaryen looks (and acts) even more like Elric, and then there is Bloodraven, who is an actual albino, not just flaxen haired.

I did read somewhere that this was deliberate (as are many other shout outs through the series).

I’ve started my re-read, expect many thoughts as they pop up.

Even if she DOES manage to get the Iron Throne back. Is she not infertile? What use is the throne if she has no heir to inherit it from her and continue the line?

It’s mentioned in her first chapter that she always assumed she would marry Viserys and continue to keep the Targaryen line pure. But Viserys’ scheme means the line will be polluted. I’m sure there’s some deeper meaning here.

Can anyone direct me to some meta on this? I haven’t seen an awful lot of discussion about it.

You know, Elia WAS a Martell. She was possibly completely okay with Rhaegar and Lyanna. I can imagine her sending him off and yelling, “You go honey! Follow your heart! Then maybe bring her back and we can have even more fun.” *wink wink nudge nudge*

Oh God. Watch me flail and shout, “Theon nooO!!!” “OMG It’s RAMSAY Theon!” “God Theon why didn’t you just take the black as Luwin suggested then you could command ships out of Eastwatch and Jon could be Lord Commander and Robb could be King In The North and give you a good dressing down then give you big hug and you could bitch to each other about how a big a twat your dad is and you could become a really real Stark and be all forgiven and Bran and Rickon would be able to come back and everyone would be happy!!” *gasps and sobs*
